Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as “the grand old lady of the falls”, is a luxurious 5-Starlodge on a World Heritage site overlooking the magnificent “Victoria Falls”, one of the Natural Wonders of the World. Established in 1904, and recently redecorated. This gracious colonial style establishment is set in the lush tropical gardens and epitomizes the romance of grand travel, offering total relaxation.
If you are looking for a great spot, close to the Vic Falls and all the activities that one can do in the area (like bungee jumping, white river rafting, village tours, conservation tour... etc), then this is the place for you. Great for couples, families and singletons – this accommodation offers comfortable rooms, a nice selection of food and great views.
When we checked into our absolutely beautiful room overlooking the magnificent gardens of The Victoria Falls Hotel, the person helping us strongly recommended keeping the windows locked “to keep out the monkeys.” We thought this was just some colorful commentary to make it all feel a little wilder than you might expect in a stately old Victorian hotel. Well, as we were having tea (as one does and should do at The Victoria Falls Hotel) we looked back up at our room, and sure enough there was a Vervet monkey shimmering up the pipes then knocking on the window of our room to try and get in. Too great! We also enjoyed seeing all the wart hogs on the lawn, and the way they would get down on their knees to gain better access to the grass. The staff, amenities, food and atmosphere was all perfect and charming. The only drawback was the ever-present helicopters flying over the falls. They cause some serious noise pollution and make it more challenging to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the hotel. Hopefully a solution can be found to restrict the number of hours they can fly during the day.
This hotel is a museum, in all the hallways you can find beautiful paintings.
It has a fantastic view of the Victoria Falls, and a private path to walk directly to the falls.
Try to have lunch or a drink in the terrace.
The pool is really nice, but not heated. The service in this area is really slow.
You must try the breakfast buffet.
The rooms are spacious and old style, I think they should add a few modern things.
It is a great place to stay. You can walk to the falls. It will take about thirty minutes to go. There is a nice over look cafe you pas on the way where you can get a great view of the morning sun rising on the Zambezi river.
The service is excellent and the drinks were refreshing. The rooms were clean and spacious. Very old world englis.
Loved the warthogs and the monkeys
