Deep in the heart of the Botswana wilderness lies Chobe Chilwero Lodge, one of the most enchanting places on earth. With gorgeous, breath-taking vistas as a backdrop, you will come face-to-face with the abundant creatures of the bush, and some of the most spectacular sunsets Mother Nature bestows.

Chilwero (from the name Chobe Chilwero Lodge) means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana.  The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparallelled views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush on the edge of Chobe National Park, home to the world’s largest remaining population of elephants.

Sitting above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. This is an incredibly luxurious lodge with just 15 guest cottages, as well as the only full spa on the Botswana safari circuit. Relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for.

  1. Africa

Very nice accommodations and staff. Food was good and view from the porch excellent. The animals roaming the premises was enjoyable. There is a nice pool area and spa for the guests. Hoping to make it back to the resort one day in the future.

  2. Entertained by a business of mongooses!

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero was the second of four Sanctuary lodges where we stayed during our safari. The staff and lodging were superb! The guides were smart, confident, phenomenal wildlife spotters with terrific senses of humor. And….our safety was clearly their priority mission. The staff singing as we arrived and that evening’s traditional dance presentation were both unexpected cultural bonuses during our stay. Chef Phineas kindly shared the recipe for his delicious Spinach & Feta soup. (We prepared is the night that we returned home to extend our safari experience!) Tim, our guide, literally opened our eyes to the wonders of the wildlife of Botswana! And…one afternoon , after a delightful ‘build your own pizza’ lunch, on my walk back to our exquisite room, I was entertained by a about 100 mongooses who decided to run from one end of the Sanctuary property to the other right outside our room. A sight that’s made a lasting impression! (The nearby baboons ignored it all!)

  3. Amazing Sanctuary

We had a wonderful experience at this lovely property! Food was out of this world, with fun options like Kudu & Bream. Staff was exceptional-Busi (mgr) went over the top to please. Kevin (safari guide) was fun and determined to check off all the animals on our “too see” list.
